These guys are right. Lithium ion batteries come in two varieties, normal and high discharge rate. RC toys need the high discharge rated ones. If you substitute a normal one, the toy won't work and the battery will die.

Have been trying to fix my myvu goggles with the exact same problem!! thermistor on battery and it won't hold a charge. it did work for a while then just abruptly died one day.
i have some small batteries here, PM me and will see what i can send... mostly salvaged from broken/new stuff but believed working. regards, -A

Well in Pat's case the other LIthium may work since the one in the copter now is 10C 130mAH or 1.3A Pk, and the MP3 players is 290mAh, it was at least a 5C it would be able to output 1.45A Pk, and the biggest thing you need the peak for especially in aircraft is for acceleration, in cars and trucks its the braking, because braking acts like a dead short.
