Hi guys, first post here, I'm glad to have joined the eschelons of high voltage enthusiasts!
I recently built a 555 flyback circuit (the one with a 2n2222 and a IRF510), worked great, good arcs and whatnot, until today, when I accidently let the output for the flyback and the ground for the flyback touch. I heard a pop, and quickly found nothing worked. I tested / replaced the 555 and transistors for good measure, but still, no work. The flyback is of the variety that came from a TV, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:DST_Zeilentrafo.jpg this one) and the thing I can fathom went wrong was that the diode somehow was damaged when the anode and ground touched... has this problem ever occured with you all?
