Looking for USED (ie with ICs and such printed onto them) silicon wafers for evil projects. I found Electronics Goldmine carries 4" wafers and ordered one (I asked and got the impression they are all the same or something) but I'd like some more. Ideally from assorted manufacturers. Anyone have any or know of any sources? I'm told they use to be readily available surplus, but now they tend to shred them. I've got lots of junk to trade if you have any, let me know what you are looking for. Thanks!

Are they not still available on eBay then?

I'm keeping a lookout, but closest things I found are:

More than I'd hope to pay probably though. This guy ended, otherwise I might have bought it:

Maybe I'm just not searching for the right things? Thanks!

I'm surprised to see they're suddenly hard to find.

Heh yeah, but I already ordered one :) And the two bare dies and a mask they carried while I was at it. Hasn't arrived yet though. I managed to get an 8" off of eBay. It turned out to be some test pattern from MIT. Its also somewhat difficult to hold on the microscope stage, but I can make an adapter to help with that. I ordered some 4" wafers from a seller in the UK and hopefully it will arrive before I move in a few weeks. I did ask that other seller, but he said they were sold out. I'm hoping to get at least one commercial wafer, so I'll keep a lookout and see how it goes.
