You know what, this thread would probably be much more suited towards the chat channel if you are going to be asking such short questions. Give it a shot:
Disclaimer: ask your question and wait for an answer, people aren't around 24/7 at their computers, you will get an answer if you try enough, and once you have a dialog going you can ask all the questions you want.

Or he could just ask it here, his thread's at the top anyway.
A 1000V meter will likely die if you try to measure an arc with it. Flybacks put out anywhere from 5 to 30 thousand volts depending on how they're driven, something you'll need a kilo voltmeter for.

I'm going to second the chat room suggestion, and put a padlock on this thread. walshy155, I hope you'll stick around and continue to learn, but you've got a lot of reading and learning to do before you're ready to start experimenting with high voltage. Try swinging by the chat room when you get a chance, and I'm sure we can help point you in the right direction.
For now, though, some of the questions being asked demonstrate a serious lack of understanding as to some basic principles of electronics and electromagnetism. We're a helpful lot, but we can't spoon-feed you every single fact you need to know -- you're going to have to meet us halfway and do some of your own homework. Some of these basic questions are better put to the HvWiki (, or Google.
