You need to read about transistors, the 'single transistor flyback driver' and 'astable multivibrators'......you will do this in time....then move onto other circuits mentioned here.

These circuits just switch the power on and off.

In the meantime, re-read my posts if you want sparks, but then read up on what I mentioned above.

from there, you can move on to 'half bridge circuits', 'full bridge circuits' and the rest.

You will come accross 'switch mode power supplies' and IGBTs on the way...............

Grenadier I have read all that a few times, before signing up to this place to, I dont get it, it says you need a CFL and a flyback, but it shows circuits, and stuff.

I meant discharge the CRT, and will any CFL work?

Just use a screwdriver to short out the CRT. If the TV hasn't been plugged in in a month then it likely has no charge anyway.

There's no way anything is still charged after 5 months, and any CFL should work.
