Well, along those lines, I think the theory is that when at rest you are accelerating through time at the speed of light, and when you speed up you increase your interaction with more higgs bosons and less interaction with whatever causes time (I think takions), and therefore gain mass and move through time more slowly, as you approach the speed of light you approach infinite mass, and therefore cannot be accelerated further, along with slowing to almost zero travel through time.

Another fun concept, there is no "energy" or "matter", it's all the same, it just behaves more like "matter" on a macroscopic scale and "energy" on a microscopic scale.

So does this mean we consist of 'waves' that interact with 'Higgs Bosons' and 'Takions' to produce the 'effect' of 'mass' and 'time'?

EDIT: I believe it's spelled 'Tachyon'

EDIT EDIT: Apparently the Higgs Boson, if it exists, isn't responsible for mass, as it affects photons (gravitational lensing)

I find the other end just as fascinating. I look at my DC, audio or microwave circuit and try to imagine it described as photons rather than continuous waves or voltages.
There is a remarkable lack of QM descriptions of antenna operation ... lasers, masers, FELs ... plenty of explanations. Plain old whip antenna, remarkable silence apart from off hand remarks that it's bremsstrahlung (which doesn't in and of itself explain the radiation pattern). I'm guessing the system is a little too hard for them yet but they are too embarrassed to admit it because it's so common :)

This has turned into a rather interesting thread. Now if light computers are built, the photons would end up pushing the supposed photons in the wire.

And couldn't the higgs boson be added to a photon to create mass? It could also be subtracted from matter to make energy. Where does E=MC^2 come into play in that?

Well, we haven't confirmed the existence of the higgs boson yet, and I don't think we really know how it reacts, so it might be different than simply adding and subtracting.

I think that if we do discover these then faster than light travel would need little more than big thrusters and a way to shield the vessel from them.

Apparently Tachyons travel faster than the speed of light, and "bradyons" are particles that travel slower than the speed of light.

I've not found anything yet that suggests that tachyons are responsible for time, though.

I know, I just think it kinda makes sense, as you approach the speed of light you're relative speed to the things would decrease, and less interaction would occur, the inverse effect of higgs boson interaction.

Not technically photons if it's a metal wire.
