Hey everyone. I'm looking to create a web page for all my projects and whatnot. I plan to link to it in job applications so I want it to look professional. I'd like to know if anyone has any suggestions for a host. I'd like a simple hostname, doesn't have to be entirely custom, i.e. myypage.4hv.org or something. I'd prefer unlimited bandwidth. I'm willing to pay up to $30 a month. I'm located in the USA, if that matters. The 1121 host looks good except they're not taking anymore applications. Thanks for any advice guys.

Personally, I'd go for a cheap host that has PHP & MySQL and allows you to install Wordpress - you can then easily generate a really cool website that has buckets of features and is easy to maintain. And... Wordpress is free....
Installing Wordpress is a complete breeze. Probably 5 mins to install and have a usable neat framework for a website a few minutes later...
Did I mention that it has a bazillion free plugins & features?

Try PMing Chris Russell anyway. I think it's said "no more applications" for years now, but that didn't stop me moving scopeboy.com to it.
His web hosting service has been great, and as Nicko said I am running Wordpress.
Conner is correct. There's still plenty o' space on the server. I just got burned by a few spammers and a lot of other people started signing up. I didn't want to end up running a hosting business (and I didn't want to bog down the server by having dozens of active sites), so I closed the applications and now signups are by word of mouth only. I don't offer unlimited bandwidth, but I do offer custom packages, and as most people hosted by me can attest, I am quite flexible and understanding when it comes to things like getting frontpaged on digg, reddit, hackaday, slashdot, etc. All our standard packages are also quite a bit less than $30 per month. Anyway, just putting it out there for your consideration. Feel free to PM if there's any interest.

I've built several websites as a part time job, and personally I would rate Squarespace as one of the best hosting platforms/CMS out there. Its has downsides i.e. no server side scripting but I don't think you'll miss that. Anyway the advantages are immense and only $12 a month.
Free trial with no credit card & excellent support (I can vouch for that from personal experience) http://www.squarespace.com/
^ im getting the 4hv internal error again...

Go for freehostia. I've been using them for two years now with no downtime at all. Domains are ten bux a year, and they host your website for free. Quite generously too; I get something like 6Gb a month bandwidth, 256Mb disk space and a mysql database. They also let you host 4 domains and 11 subdomains. Wordpress works great too, though I decided not to use it myself.
So for a total cost of $10 a year, it certainly can't be beat.
