I ordered two Electrolytic Capacitors 10000uF 35V caps and some irfp260. Will those work for the circuit?

also what kind of power am i going to have to supply to this circuit?

@radhoo I plan on making another video, just haven't gotten to it yet.

@Littleventure
They should work OK. The first time you plug this in use an atx computer supply. That way if there's a problem unlimited amps don't go through the fets and kill them.

If that works then go for lead acid batteries.

I built this circuit, it runs fine from a 5amp lab supply at 2amps, 31volts

More amps = better quality sound from my observations.

My circuit puts out 10kV @9mA, I still have to measure ho many amps are going in. The flyback doesn't even get warm, but the primary coil sure does. I had to change the coil to some 14ga litz wire. It helped cut the heat, but it made no difference in sound quality.

I can draw the arc to about 2 inches, but at anything more than 1 inch the music disappears.

By the way, the circuit runs fine with a cracked (and glued) core. Yeah, I dropped it.

You don't need thick turns of wire for a zvs. I used 22awg magnet wire on mine, and I pushed 1.3kW out of the FBT. You should reakky use litz wire though. Look at the inductors on a crt board and you'll see it's braided litz wire. Unwrap them and you have about a yard of it to use for whatever you want.

As for the 555 ic, I have some made by signetics 30 years ago. Maybe those won't die.

1.3kW through a flyback?

Would love to see some vids of this. What was the input into the ZVS voltage and current wise?

I plan on making a video soon, but input voltage was 36V and the current was too high to measure with my multimeter. It was a standard computer monitor flyback.

I have a pic though:

You know the voltage output drops when drawing current (to a low voltage when shorted) so the output power is not just the product of the peak voltage and peak current. Power is the product of the output current and voltage at the same time.

I have no way to measure it under load...

It's still probably like 900 watts though; the arcs look petty powerful and after 30 seconds the fbt feels like it's about to catch fire.

are you putting in 36 volts, at 40ish amps? im kinda suspicious youre waveform is overdriving your analog meters.
