As you are in the UK, try Brocotts Link2 (switchedkwb on eBay).

I use them and the wire is very good. I would like different colours, though...

Cheers

A good source of thin enamel wire are table fans and microwaves. They have shaded pole motors Link2 in them and there's about a thousand feet of wire on there.

Like Nicko I have had only good experiences spread over quite a number of transactions with Brocotts.

Here in the US i have had a good experience with Parawire. I don't know if there is are any distributors in the UK or elsewhere.

For 9500 feet of 32 gauge, i ended up paying 38 dollars shipped. Enough for a 6 inch by 30 inch secondary, 4 inch by 24 inch secondary, and a few 2 inch by 10-12 inch secondaries if i recall right... I calculated it some time ago. And remember, that is 32 gauge, so lots of turns and low freq.

I also bought some 24 gauge once, 40 dollars shipped.

What impressed me the most is that there was not a single kink in the wire, and it never tangled up. I have bought wire from eBay once, and it kept tangling. Never again. You can choose what color you want, green, red, and natural copper color.
