Hey everybody Ive wondered for a while now how the "Mint" works? Its the typical floor cleaning bot with the addition of a small cube perhaps a radio direction finder/transmitter pair? So the way its described it cleans by reciveing a supposed "GPS-Like" signal thus not missing large areas + learning and anticipating obsticals.
My question for any who can answer, Is what is the "NorthStar" navigation, Is it just a simple radio direction finding arrangement + memory in the bot itself? Info on the net was hard to come by, I did a cursory search here on 4hv, and the net but no real useful info was found.
I wonder if this could be reverse engineered for a different purpose?

hmm, i have found out that it shines infrared light up ward on the cieling, then flashes in different locations, from that info, wheel count and bumb sensors can calculate and refine the location... i thought it might be more like RF-tdoa or such, but it seems pretty simple.
i dont know how useful this is to others but this method might be useful for indoor bot control.
