I tried the speaker idea now.. I used a piezo speaker as input and one of the big crystals as output.
Resonance frequency: 114 kHz Input voltage: 8 V Input current: 20 mA Output voltage 6 V Output current 70 uA
It just isn't working.

I got my spare parts for the function generator yesterday and so i tried some stuff with the piezos. The self-resonance at around 115khz is very weak, maybe because the sig gen was coupled to the piezo with too low a resistance (1k). When tapping a piezo with a screwdriver, the output is a very odd-looking waveform with very high peaks in the hundreds of volts. If i only had a working pen plotter i could print out the captured waveforms and scan it.Taking photor right off the CRT results in trashy image quality.

the 115khz resonance is mechanical resonance only. You have to build an LC circuit with an Inductor to get electrical resonance at 115khz.
