Looks cool.

Is that coil really resonant at 25MHz? It looks much too large to be a 25MHz coil especially with a very high electrode such as that. (electrodes are about 1pF per inch)

What are the dimensions and what is the wire size?

It appears you are exciting the coil with various frequencies, so the 25MHz number looks like you might be hitting a harmonic and not the fundamental.

Perhaps 14MHz is the fundamental as you seem to be getting the most arc at that frequency.

as usual you come up with some thing different zilipoper, does it use a parallel or series primary.

Wow that's awesome! What topology did you use to get the switch going that fast with low losses? I would assume some form of ZVS/class E?

Have you found out what your losses are at 25Mhz? I'm curious to how well it's working at that frequency. I'm a silent follower of your work and as always you are doing something new and innovative.

P.S. love the triple stack orange variac, not sure why but it made me giggle! tongue

Great work! I'd love to see the schematic for this build as well as know some info about the input power involved.

I can only imagine the difficulty in keeping stray inductances and capacitances at bay in this frequency range - it is hard enough above 500kHz!

hi
EasternVoltageResearch
parameters of the resonator at 25 MHz
wire diameter 0.5mm
secondary diameter 2.5cm
Winding height 2.2sm

efficiency is less than 40% at 25 MHz
efficiency at 14 MHz is about 60-70%
simple oscillator circuit
then no Class E

Very nice. The coils just look larger in the photos - optical illusion!

Nice work! Love the flaming arc!!!!
