I had something interesting happen to me... I got some simple lm705 regulators from TI and hooked them into a preamp powersupply and they immediately blew,,, turns out that the lm705 from TI doesn't have the same pin out as the lm705 from any of my schematics. Gotta make sure to double check the data sheet!
Edit- Sorry Bjorn they are the 7805... just going from memory here so forgot the "8" in there.
