I've been into MCUs for more than e year now and never had such a problem.
Now - this is a fairly old MCU but it has a lot of I/O (exactly what I need for the project) and it is very cheap. I've written the software for it and here comes the problem - I can't program it ?!?!?
I am using the ICP01-USB programmer. When I use the ZIF socket that comes with the programmer -it says that it can't reach the Vpp. After digging around it turned out that the pinout don't match the layout on the ZIF.
So I've reconnected it using the breadboard - this time no such problem - but the software (PicKit2 V2.60) can't detect the MCU at all. I've chekced the MCLR voltage, the Vdd, Vss, PGC and PGD - everything is where it is supposed to be.
On the programmer - they say it shoud support that MCU and in the manual of the Pickit software - it is written that it supports that MCU.
I have no problem programming MCUs like f627/8, 18f454, 16f84, 16f684 ....
I've got a repply from the guy who sell those programmers - there is actually a mistake in the description of the programmer (they found it after my question) with their ZIF socket - it does not support that MCU (different pin configuration). He advised me to connect it directly to the breadboard. I've redone the connections again and updeited the software - this time it gives me "not supported device" in the software. I've wrote back to him and I am waiting for a repply.
Using PicKit 2 v 2.61 now
P.S. I have 5 of those MCUs and used only one on the ZIF - so I shoud have atleast 4 working...

We've managed to solve the problem - there is a special option that has to be sellected for those old processors.
