I have about a dozen or more memory modules from various old computers. Other than trying to install them all, is there any way to find the specs of them?
Can't they just have 64MB, 60ns written on them or something?
I've tried entering numbers from the chips into Google but that hasn't helped much (I've found suppliers but no datasheets).

I assume you mean the 72-pin SIMMs modules. The way I can tell is at the end of the part number, there is a number representing nanoseconds. Most SIMMs say 60 or 70 on them. The size is more difficult. You can tell one way by looking at the memory chips on the SIMM boards. They have 20 or 24 pins each. The 24 pins chips can address much more memory. So if you have a SIMM with eight or nine 24-pin chips on both sides. You would most likely have a 32mb SIMM.
Installing them all might be the easiest option. Unplug the harddisk, so you don't half to go through the boot process every time.

ShawnLG, that makes sense. I knew about the memory speed thing but it's the size that I need to know. That qualitative check might help. Ultimately I might have to spend a pleasant afternoon in my basement installing RAM...
