My MOTs are confused

ok so last night I was playing with HV ac and HV dc power. I was using the supply in the pic, but slightly modded on themains side... any ways!!

I was using ac, then hooked up the caps and diodes, and it seems to be shortig out my MOTs. when I remove the diodes and caps, the ac works fine. but I tested the diodes and caps and they seem fine...

whats going on??

it works... I've had it running, but all of the sudden PPPFFTTTT,nothing, the caps and diodes hate my MOTs

Here, try this:




The two diodes to the centre-tap form a full-wave rectifier. I drew it this way because I have 240V mains, so apologies for cutting out your primary centre-tap. This is probably unsafe. =P

The circuit Blackplasma posted gives out the peak voltage of one MOT. The circuit in the first post gives out twice the peak voltage of both MOTs in series, i.e. 4 times as much. You need to have this in mind if you are going to use his circuit. Also, don't try to draw arcs with Blackplasmas circuit, you'll most likely blow the diodes unless you have current limiting on the primary side.
