running a tv cascade of a 15kv 30ma nst

hi all
i was wondering if a tv cascade would die if i ran it off a 15/30ma nst? i have two of them but i dont whant to kill them and what would the output voltage be (aproxmate)
would this work?

I would think it would not work because TV cascades are meant to run off the HF output of a flyback not a 60hz transformer.

Like Nik said, the frequency is much too low to get any decent output from a NST.

The flyback runs at 15khz, as opposed to .05khz that your NST runs at, which (due to the design of the cascade) will only get you a tiny fraction of the power you could get using a flyback.

It is possible to make a doubler/tripler/ets for a NST, just get yourself a bag of 500 in4007's and some doorknob caps (or any string of caps good for 30kv) and start making doubler stages.

wont those diodes fail since you are far exceeding their max voltage rating?

You string a bunch of them in series (input KV * 2 is usually enough, probably best to use 4 for an added safety margin) which raises the max voltage

Don't forget some ballast resistance on the output stage to limit the current.
