Searched this site and googled, but still abit unclear on these two questions: With regards to a little project I'm working on where every microamp (both HV and LV) is precious... a) is there any energy conservation/propogation benefit to using 'carbon conductors' such as spark plug cables compared to using regular ole insulated copper wire? b) For conducting HV, does insulated STRANDED copper wire, or insulated SOLID copper wire, provide the best energy conservation/propogation? The distances involved in all the above questions is only 2-3 feet. CM

Spark plug cables are high resistance and definitely not too good.
For DC, simple rule is to use conductor of smallest resistance possible. o mater of it's shape.
For high frequency AC, shape of cable gets more important because of skin effect: Conductors with more surface area (strips, hollow pipes, multifilar cables) are much more cost and volume effective over solid wires.
Stranded copper wire is, generally, similar to solid for this job except it's more flexible; surface area gain is minor.
Multifilar wire (lots of strands bundled together but INSULATED from each other) or wide, flat strips of copper usually make best conductors for such use.
SInce you don'w want to clarify anything about what are you doing it's impossible to help you anymore.
If you want to keep soemthing super-secret you shouldn't be posting on this forum at all.

Actually, the dialog provided by informed people here at 4hv has been quite educational, no need for me to bore everyone with too much detail, would take a couple pages of text to adequately explain my hobby/project. I try to keep my posts short and to the point, just enough detail to get the desired answers. Thanks for yours. CM

CM, could we know some more about your application? Perhaps we can give you a more specific reply.
Firkragg, your help is always welcome. However, let's try to keep the forum discussion as open and accomodating as possible. If someone is not as clear as you would like, ask them to clarify. Judgements about whether or not they should be posting should be left to moderators/admins.

I apologize, I was probably too harsh in my judgements
But considering CM's previous posts, and way they are written, it just seems that he doesn't want to give all the information about his applications and projects, and I just suggested that, in that case he maybe shouldn't be asking questions about them.
