medved,

Thank you very much. I looked at your page and it will be a lot of fun to read.
Google Translate does a fine job of making it readable to my native English.

I may try again to make a transformer.

Cheers.

I was filing a new plasma tube today, about 75 X 760 mm with a mixture of neon and xenon (xenon firts) and got a good example of large beading.

Cheers.

wow nice ! .. btw .. about a year ago, I experimented with a vacuum in a bottle of cucumbers, about 9 kPa. Compressor from refrigerator.

photos, videos.. (big glass down in the article)
http://www.vn-experimenty.eu/index.php?stranka=plazma_za_znizeneho_tlaku

HV power supply:
23kVp AC, 22kHz
CD4046 push-pull driver

no matter how the electrodes are connected:
aluminum sheet under glass - HV
electrode in the glass - ground
- a plasma hole is formed
- I can affect the hole with the magnet

aluminum sheet under glass - ground
electrode in the glass - HV
- no holes in the plasma

why does not it matter how do I connect the electrodes? due to the size and position of the electrodes? there appears a DC component of the voltage ?
but otherwise it is the same phenomenon...

medved,

I have printed out the translations of your wonderful web pages and will be reading and studying them.

If I can answer your question I will try, but first I want to understand what you are doing.

Cheers.

Hi medved,

I found this page which explains what is happening. It is the part titled "Structure of the low-pressure gas discharge".

If the power source is an asymmetric (polarised) AC source such as an induction coil, the plasma may have the same structure as a DC discharge. The hole in the plasma looks like it is probably the Faraday dark space.

I will be reading your wonderful web pages too. smile

Ooo thanks for this page :) .. and I'm glad you like my web :)

perhaps I'll be able to translate at least part of the web pages into the English language. But my knowledge of English is quite weak for such translations in English :/ .. perhaps sometime in the future :)
