I've been messing with my new 3d printer for a week now... Here is a page I made about it...

Very good cheap printer. The local maker space just bought 10 of them. They run for $220 a piece on Amazon.

Thats a nice little printer, but make sure to install the cable relief upgrade.

We use a custom all-metal Prusa i3 with a large high-flow steel 0.8mm hot-end, but have tried 0.2mm (slow) and 0.4mm (most popular). Calibrated Slic3r on desktop system for a week with various filaments, than ported settings into the Octoprint module. Octoprint on pi3 also runs the network print interfaces, 3d viewer, and remote web camera monitor.

I had several printers fall apart after about a year of continuous use, and it was impossible to find a complete kit that didn't have some sort of long-term maintenance issue. If you end up building a custom ultra-fast continuous-use printer rig for solid ABS/nylon like we did:

* all aluminum x-axis for standard SCS8UU+SCS8LUU bearing blocks, and ptfe lined v6 1.75mm bowden kit
* steel washers on all aluminum surfaces
* Loctite Threadlocker Blue on every nut, bolt, and screw (no manufacturer does this)
* Cable management, and RTV silicone thermal glue on all thermometer/heater wires
* low stretch Metal core gt2 belts
* metal bearings, clamps and brackets
* Threadlocker where axles inserted (case hardened, and checked for straitness)
* Marlin+RAMPS 1.4 with double z-driver output mod (buy twice the number you initially use)
* sound dampened with foam-feet on a large flat ceramic tile (assembled with machinist square for alignment)
* all electronics on outside of build chamber (bowden style driver is accessible on top of box)
* 100W incandescent bulb in heated build chamber (70’C ambient)
* Sulfur free Oil for the metal surfaces & bearings prior to every use
* low speed exhaust fan with aluminum dryer hose to outdoors (box is always under negative pressure)
* acetone dissolved ABS for heated bed surface coating
* smoke detector and filament spool holder above unit

The unit does jobs around 3 times faster than the other printers we had set on maximum reliable output. However, keep in mind we are using it for custom brackets inside equipment, and the surface details are not going to be as fine as a smaller aperture unit. Also, we get smoother surfaces by setting our layer height slice increment to match the stepper full-step position and lead screw pitch.
