Thanks for the magnetic amplifiers document, something that I half-knew, always meant to read-up, never did. That document is an excellent start (and enough for now, for me)
I will have a quick play with magnetic amplifiers sometime this year, or next, maybe :)
Newton Brawn from reading the first half and skimming the rest of the document that PM posted ... GOOD LUCK !

Hi Mary, Sulaiman,
Thanks for the book, it is a very useful information. I have it in my library.
Here is the instructions for the mag amp.
As supply of 12V 35kHz I used a " electronic transformer " that is transformer for small lighting fixtures. A capacitor of 200mF was added in the 170V supply of the electronic transformer to reduce the inter_modulation of 60Hz against the 35kHz.
I am suspecting that the input impedance is not matching the audio source out impedance.
Anyone can tell me as calculate the mag amp input impedance ? The bias winding is 200 turns each and has a 19 ohms dc each .
All other Nyle experiments I have replicate successful .

It works better with low loss diodes, the best ones to use are Schottky ones which drop 0.1V or less. These aren't that expensive and can be obtained new or from car chargers marked 1N5417 or similar.

Hi Conundrum,
I got the 1N5417 datasheet, and compared with the 1N4004 diode. I could not find too much difference in the range of .010 to 1 ampere. Maybe I got wrong datasheet. But I have bought 10 1n4004 for $can 2.00 ... Thanks for the suggestion.
