Hi all.
Acquired several dead/damaged routers here, of which the best seems to be a F7D4302 v1

The problem as you can guess is that someone has been fiddling with it and managed to brick it, no WiFi visible and no response to network but the SoC is powered and has voltage.

There does seem to be a serial port on the board and I've purchased a genuine cable which has the right 3.3V output.

Has anyone here ever managed to repair this issue?
Its a nice router otherwise with dual band 2.4/5 and extended range, as well as WPS.
thanks!

Try do do the Hard Reset (aka 30/30/30 reset). First unplug all LAN cables from the router.
1.With the unit powered on, using a paper clip press and hold the reset button on back of unit for 30 seconds
2. Without releasing the reset button, unplug the unit and continue to hold the reset button in for another 30 seconds
3. Plug the unit back in STILL holding the reset button a final 30 seconds.
Wait for one minute for the router to restart and it will be set back to the original factory default settings.
In general by default the password on the router is left blank, and the default IP address is 192.168.2.1, but some reports the router IP address may be different, e.g 192.168.178.250

Set your computers static IP address to be on the same base as the router, ie: if it is 192.168.2.1 then your computer needs to be in the range of 192.168.2.x (x=2 to 255).
If this doesn’t help read here:

I'm not familiar with that model, but generally if you get nothing at all on serial you might need to build a JTAG cable.

I need to do that, is there a serial to JTAG you'd recommend?

Any FTDI based USB to JTAG adaptor should do the job. I've not used them. I was very familiar with parallel port adaptors and the I modified the software a lot to do what I needed but things have moved on without me.

Be very sure the bootloader CFE is bricked before you mess with JTAG. Then try to find specific JTAG software for that model router.
