Hello, does any one succeeded hacking trial mode on new Tektronix MSO2000, MDO3000 or MDO4000 series? Since after first power up, it starts trial period for 30 days with all functions enabled, and after that period, many functions will disappear.

Since i am getting new MDO3000 in my work, just wondering will it be possible to hold in trial period for x amount of time? All i know that all scopes with that trial period have M41T93 RTC with backup battery, but when i try to read it, it was empty (on old MSO2024B scope, so trial period was ended)

Well, any ideas how to trick scope for unlimited trial period ?

And yes, application modules can be hacked, and works without a problem, what is problem that MDO3000 have options upgrade, not app modules

From the data sheet, it looks like two factors are working against you.
1. The SRAM pointer that is being incrimented every write cycle.
2. The internal calendar.

You would probably have to come up with some code to emulate the RTC on a PIC uC, with the same inputs, and then modify the code to "reset" itself automatically after 30 days.

This also works against you if you need to time stamp your captures (dates won't be accurate anymore), and invalidates any service warranty plan that you are paying Tektronix for.

1) yes, reading while CS is low will shift all 32 bytes of data, i don't see any problem with that, any new readout will set address anyway.

I guess i did lazy job while reading RTC. All i did is disconnected RTC Vcc from main pcb by lifting pin, and used STM32F4 +3,3V rail as power, and prayed that processor will not load on SPI bus while power is of, but it looks like i did something to RTC, since date was 2007, and i know that it was correct one. So i guess next time i should disconnect Vcc, MISO, MOSI, CLK, CS from main pcb. If i do that, i should be able to read correct data from RTC right ?

If you set the date to be within the 30 day period do the options work again?
