I installed a weather monitoring station at a shack located in a remote field in order to monitor the local weather conditions more precisely than available over the net or television. There is no access to AC power. I must travel an hour round trip in order to view the data shown on the weather station display. I'd like to avoid all that driving by installing an (inexpensive) method of monitoring the displayed data from time to time. Specialized Rf transmitters are too expensive. One idea is to position a smart phone in front of the weather station display and remotely instruct the phone (from my home computer) to send a picture of the weather station display to my email. I've already goggled the topic, but not clear on which software would do exactly the above.
Question: Can anyone recommend software capable of remotely instructing a smart phone to snap a photograph and email that picture of the weather station's display so I can see it on my home computer?

Shrad, great idea. An app that would instruct the smart phone to snap a picture and email it to me periodically would be perfect. Unfortunately, I don't write code... does such an app exist? If so, who/where could I obtain it from?
