Not much, silicon doesen't dissolve as its salts are insoluble. An important compound however is sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) as it is used for a number of applications.
Silicates are cool. Without them we wouldn't have proper glass. But the silicon in the solar cells deteriorate over time, and sometimes input cost > output. They need to find a compound that lasts long in exposure to light for long periods of time. I've always wanted a lump of pure silicon, after I saw it in a place I forgot the name of (had elements of all sorts... primarily sulfur... )

Also, another interesting note is that sodium silicate can sometimes be used as a dielectric barrier for SMD capacitors to prevent "tombstoning" aka "smd lifts off board"
