Is it a good idea or not to put SCR's in parallel?

I've been looking back and forth between new posts and old posts and they often contradict each other. It's confusing, and I just want a final, honest answer.

Is it possible to parallel 2 or more SCR's (of the same type) reliably, without any issues, with gate trigger resistors on each of them so they all trigger roughly the same time?

Yes, it is possible and has been done successfully many times.

The concern is that not all identical SCRs may have perfectly identical properties, so they may not share the current evenly and one may pass more current than it's rated for. A simple solution is to over-design by a reasonable margin of safety.

If you were designing a professional circuit that had to work reliably for 15-20 years, you might think twice about it, but if you're making a coilgun in your garage, it can be the best way to go in many cases.

Works for me. I put 5 and even 10 SCRs in parallel and they heldup to >1KJ in my case. They died later because i was really stupid and put the capacitor bank voltage to the gate instead of Anode =(
