Yup that SCR has a surge current of 1200amps, so should be fine :)

sweet.

Im putting a list together for uzzors2k's cap charger/ ZVS fly back driver and ordering some other parts.

I will definitely post my results later on, thanks for all the help.

EDIT: How do i go about triggering the SCR(the link to mouse wont open, the part number is VS-70TPS12PBF)? The trigger voltage is 1.5v so can i use a AAA battery, and a trigger switch ?

Good luck! Yea I need to get round to building a zvs charger, perhaps when I earn some more money. *sigh*
Let me know how much it costs all up, I'm a school student and don't have that much money from my cleaning job :(
Also are you you using a proto board or eatching you own?

Im going to use a black pc board, I make it a habit to order double of things that are prone to breaking, I also have the scr and a heat sink with my list, an estimated cost would be 25$ minus shipping for a standard ZVS driver.

Erm I'd put a 330 ohm resistor from the positive of you battery to the gate (and negative of the battery to the negative of your caps). That should dot it. Although I'd start higher and work you way down. Also never use the SCR without a revers protection diode on you coil.
