Hello All,

I know this isn't a pc help section but know that you lot really know how to get things done and i can trust the responses;-)

I stupidly downloaded (and paid!) for a file sharing program hoping to get some plc programming software for free. well lets just say I wish I hadn't! It was from unlimited downloads and has filed laptop with viruses and trojans. I have malware program but it removes them then reboots pc upon which the viruses are back. I have installed norton 360 but won't let me open any anti virus programs to fix. also wont let me open IE explorer etc. this applies even if I open from task manager. I have tried holding dowen ctrl when clicking run program in task mng but the dos box opens then closes almost immediately. I have manged to delete program which I dowloaded viruses with but thats it.

ANy help would be much appreciated and if solved promise to go donate to 4HV cheesey

Thanks,

Colin Heath

Hi Colin

See this thread: Link2

The most powerful tool I found for getting rid of trojans is Process Explorer.

If you know the filenames of the virusses or trojans (these may be found with help from process explorer) download the program moveonboot.
This program is really great. I've used it multiple times to get rid of nasty trojans/virusses which ordinary scanners could not remove.
The program is basically a very small OS that starts before windows starts, thus allowing to remove/rename/move any file you want.
So far no virus I've encountered survived a removal this way.

Thanks for the help people. I am only a PC user so hae no experience with the background processes so some of this may be too advanced for me.

I will try the last one sugested and see how this goes. Funny thing is malwarebytes is picking up no threats now but still same problem with not being able to open AV, add remove programs or IE etc.

You might want to use an external drive to back up your data and then wipe your os to its factory setting.
