guys,
finally made one... :)
3.2" x 8.2" AWG#34 secondary
using IRG4PF50WD IGBT
some pics...
mounting for the toploads
coated
drive electronics.. basically from EVRs minibrute, made simpler, no OCD..im running secondary feedback only
finally found a ferrite torroid.. dont know the AL.. 1:2:2 pri about 78uH
two toploads
almost IF NOT impossible to get CDE or WIMA pulse caps... SO....
my DIY PULSE cap.. 123nF @12Kv.. hey, IT works... construction method like the CDE caps (almost)
ADDED:
video: 1st light
had this been only an SSTC (take away the LC CAP), streamers are only 9" .... I LOVE DR!! but VERY VERY noisy!
Cheers!

Very nicely done! beautiful big thick streamer :)

Thanks Hazz
next will be upgrading power supply to full wave rectification + 740uF 400V filter caps... those shown above is just using halfwave rect and 330uF filter cap..
guys,
the more DC filter capacitance, the better.. right?

yea, sort of, that depends on power input

Hi mmt,
so... 1000uF is ok enough for 220Vac input (for this SMALL coil)?

i thing that will be good enough

hi
now PS is fullwave rectified mains + 1140uF 400V lytics...
now I get a bit longer streamers +1.5" ... AND violent flashovers(topload to PRI)
at higher ON time setting on the interrupter.. I guess its time do wind me a "longer" secondary..... 3.2"x18" awg#28... will keep the freq Loaded near vicinity 200KHz or so...
