Has anyony evaluated this 2D PCB printer ?
Link2

it looks pretty awesome. and for 2,200 US$ thats getting close to a must have, if it really works.

I'm not too sure about the actual PCBs, but for solder paste... Sounds nice.

I've been concepting another idea involving placing SMT components down on glue, holding them in place, then using a cnc wedge-bonder or point-to-point soldering machine of sorts to do the interconnects.

Some have said they had trouble even getting basic dispenser functionality, and complain about it taking up room.
It supposedly lacks proper software, but some users are functionally retarded...
So who knows.... wink

We get 15 pcs of 10cm*8cm Enig coated PCB at 1mil resolution with a metal paste-stencil for about $120 US delivered in 6 days...

The trick with RoHS pastes is to mix it with extra dilute rosin prior to use (about 15% by volume), and toss the leftovers after 1 week.
We find a high-flow honey consistency tends to have better yields than the regular SAC305 mixes, and water soluble Indium pastes are simply unusable without adding the extra rosin. Also note, dispenser syringes are a terrible way to store pastes, and a $20 500g Indium paste tub can last years if refrigerated.

I don't like the sound of conductive ink. Most of my work is power electronics. Power does not flow easily through conductive ink.

I get my stencils for $15

2200/15 = 147 That is a lot of stencils!

I spent a while trying to etch my own PCBs; its fine for through hole components but for fine SMT components, you will have trouble soldering them without solder resist.

Once I started using GoldPheonix PCB, I never etched another board. For ~120-180 USD I get 100sq inches, double sided, with any color solder resist and silkscreen in about a week from China to Florida.

Can Voltera do plated through holes? I did not see...

I've seen cheap stencils as well, though I think they are only truly needed for BGA components.
