Full-bridge X-Ray transformer driver

Hello everyone,

I figured i might as well document my Fullbridge IGBT X-ray transformer driver im currently working on.

Im currently using a pair of 2MBI300U4E-120 IGBTs but i intend to swap to some larger ones or some CM300s at a later date if these don't work too well.

Im using a 8uF series capacitor to prevent DC flowing through the XRT (Thanks Proud Mary / Stella, these caps are beautiful)

Im also using 5600uF 400V of bus capacitance (thanks for the caps and the bridge rectifier Sulaiman, finally got round to using them.

The XRT i brought off a good friend of mine on youtube (high1voltage1rules)

Currently just trying to decide the best way to drive the IGBTs and control them etc.

Some pictures of the current experemental setup:

thats all for now folks, more coming up when i can! :)

Good luck there, Thomas.
I will eagerly be following your progress and that of "Mr. T".

Got a similar project going on myself, but have been focusing
on characterizing the transformer itself. Time for an update there.

As for drive electronics, I want to start with sine waves and an audio power amp.
Then make my first H-bridge using MOSFETS instead of IGBTs.
Want to be able to invert a DC bus of 5 volts or 12 volts before trying hundreds of volts.
