It looks impressive, but i don't see any point of using so much parts just to get result like that. I like to be able to move DRSSTC myself with small hatchback , not with truck
At least can you hit my numbers, 800Vdc and 3-4kA ? (CM600 full bridge)
Zilipoper you never stop amazing me! Love the bridge construction. Coiling must be your full time work over there, what a fast build. I really hope to meet you one day at a Teslathon!

Actual public perfomance is a bit less amazing however :)
It's really amazing that it actually worked a bit during tests

How come... those were tiny? yet the test ones were so much larger. Kind of dissapointing to see that ;(
Wow, again, that's an awesome project, zilipoper! Nice results and great setup (on the other hand we do not know anything other from you than amazing projects )
Thank you very much for posting!
Best regards kilovolt

:(... I guess at least it didn't catch fire or explode and ruin your hard work. Some sort of glitch in the control circuitry?
Re: MUSHROOM DRSSTC Thomas W, Fri Jul 18 2014, 11:31AM
I would love to know more stats about this.. :)
Max power draw? Peak Current and so on! Really quite awesome.
hi next start MUSHROOM DRSSTC somewhere around the resonance current primary 6kA power input approximately 28 kW this is not the maximum burst (punches magnifer)
Absolutely amazing pictures, the last one is desktop material!
It is not just the coil itself, but the post apocalyptic setting of the abandoned industrial site. Which brings me back to my recent question, where do you get the power from? Is power just on in old buildings?

an abandoned factory tram there are some people and there is a very powerful Power Grid this plant will be demolished soon need to talk to the guard to be able to run there tesla coils
Re: MUSHROOM DRSSTC Steve Conner, Thu Jul 24 2014, 11:11AM
Insane! I love it! :D How long is the spark, 4m, 5m, 6 or even more?
Re: MUSHROOM DRSSTC zrg, Thu Jul 24 2014, 03:45PM
Coil height is about 4m, so the spark is something like that, 4-5m
This is so beautiful-crazy, i really would love to see it in reality!!!
Re: MUSHROOM DRSSTC zilipoper, Fri Aug 01 2014, 12:23PM
Starting the in the field of diesel generator 35kW generator was very painful primary current 6 kA
Re: MUSHROOM DRSSTC zrg, Fri Aug 01 2014, 01:12PM
Nice sparks, but looks like a lot to be optimized still. 6kA with 550V bus voltage should give 8-10 meters of spark, not 5-6m. We've got same spark length with 3.5kA.
Re: MUSHROOM DRSSTC Steve Conner, Fri Aug 01 2014, 01:23PM
The magnifier configuration might be tricky to optimise. What is the effective coupling of your system? I think you can calculate this as k12 * (L2/(L2+L3)) although I might have missed a square root somewhere.

coupling coefficient of 0.3, we are very poor necessary to alter magnifer
Re: MUSHROOM DRSSTC Steve Conner, Fri Aug 01 2014, 05:10PM
So k12 is 0.3? The coupling between primary and secondary?
What are the inductances of your secondary and tertiary coils?

HI a small video with fire man

That is awesome - what a cool display. Just love the abandoned building setting - so much better than our garages Keep the videos coming.

geee... what kind of of IGBT bricks you use for peak currents 6000 A and how many of them in parallel? Nice monster

There is pictures of both IGBT type number and number of bricks used in the first post.

Good. I see it now when increased size of the pics. Looks like 4 of these
Re: MUSHROOM DRSSTC colin heath, Tue Nov 03 2015, 06:59PM
I haven't been in here for long time, but loving this coil!
The magnifier really lends itself to keeping the electronics out of the way and a safer build all round.
