Can you please give us some details as to the features of this driver?
Does it they incorporate zero current switching?

I'm pretty sure zero current switching is part of the *modern* definition of a DRSSTC driver, along with zero cross interruption.

This driver is very simple and is based on drive schemes utilized in all my DRSSTCs. Except in this case, we're packaging it as part of a complete package now - Universal Driver, CM300 Power Board, Gate Transformer, and Gate Interface Board.

Features:
Mod Input: Fiber Optic ST interface or BNC Connector (with provisions for voltage scaling)
Protection: Pulse-by-Pulse Peak Current Detection, Maximum Pulsewidth
Feedback Inputs: Primary Current Transformer
LED Indicators: Gate Drive PWR, Logic PWR, OC Fault, PW Fault
Output: Single channel drive
Shielded Enclosure / FR-4 Board

Drive Sequencing:
When fault detected, no shutdown until present pulse is completed (to ensure zero crossing when IGBT is switched off)
When fault detected, all pulses for remainder of input MOD pulse burst are disabled

When purchased as a package, the customer will receive:
1. Universal Driver Board with all components
2. Enclosure for Universal Driver Board
3. CM300 IGBT Brick (NEW - not surplus)
4. Power Board (0.120" FR4 w/ 16oz Copper) interfaces directly to CM300 IGBT Brick
5. (2) Powerlytic 36DX Capacitors
6. All protection components and snubbers for power board
7. CM300 Gate Drive Board (mounts directly to IGBT gate terminals)
8. Ferrite Core for Gate Transformer
9. Current Transformer Board with Current Transformers
10. Power Transformer for Universal Gate Driver

Basically, everything you need for a mid-power DRSSTC with the exception of the Tesla resonator.

We did look into CM600 type packages, but our market analysis just showed there wasn't as much interest in those, so we're geared more for smaller, more manageable and affordable packages that everyone can use.

I just finished building my new work shop cheesey and need a new project. I would be glad to try out your beta kit, at the moment I have all my test equipment setup and ready to go.

For the final product that people can buy, are you saying the IGBTs are included? If so are you selling a kit that's just the driver,so people who own igbts already, can use theirs? I have a 115khz coil for my DRSSTC layout so CM300/600 wouldn't be best.

Oh well, maybe some other time. I could never get a proper mmc here.

Yes. Everything is available as a kit, or all separately as well.

I've run a CM300 based coil at 300kHz with an ealier prototype version of this driver. 115kHz should be no problem whatsoever.

On another note which i haven't mentioned yet, is that this is part of our miniQCW kit. Basically, its the same kit, but there will be a separate QCW power supply which will plug-n-play with this entire kit.

Our earlier prototypes were using SOT-227 type IGBTs for the QCW stuff, but found it wasn't reliable enough for amateur / hobbyist use without the use of some exotic cooling techniques, but with the CM300, it works great. We're just working on releasing this kit first, and then we will be releasing the add on QCW supply as an add-on. We're also developing a standard 400VDC PFC power supply for use with these CM300 kits as well. Basically, the same thing as the QCW, but without the triggered programmable ramp control.

UPDATE:

Just wanted to let you know all the beta testers have been selected for this particular design. I wanted to thank everyone personally for their interest, and as much as I'd love to give everyone a chance at becoming a beta tester (who was interested), we only have a limited number of prototype units.

However, if you weren't selected for this run, don't be discouraged. We will be offering additional beta test units in the future for higher power universal driver units. So if you weren't selected this time, please re-apply, as first consideration will be given to those who weren't selected in this round.

The drivers / enclosures will be shipped next week to the chosen individuals, with the CM300 / Gate Board sections (with electrolytics) in early December most likely once we receive those prototype boards from the PCB manufacturer.

Thanks again for everyone's help.
Dan
