I need 2 ohms

2 ohms would give 2/(120 x Pi) = 5.31mH or 5310uH

Any inductor/choke in this approximate range will work fine. You can build your own by winding wire around an iron bar or around a ferrite core.

If you're uncomfortable winding your own, you can also use audio crossover inductors, they can usually be purchased at a fairly modest price($10-$20)...

Scotchtapelord - The OP wants to power a flyback driver with this PSU; most likely a ZVS driver. I honestly have no idea if a ripply power supply will effect a ZVS driver but it certainly can't be good for it.

Well, people run solid state tesla coils right off rectified mains with no filtering at all! I say use a big capacitor right after the rectifier and put a reverse zener diode on it to clip the peaks. It will have losses when idling but once you begin to pull the current the waveform should even out below the zener diode clamping voltage, with a ripple inversely proportional to your capacitance, and it should be fine without any big ferrites. (A Henry is A LOT of inductance!)

Well, I suppose a capacitor should be sufficient for filtering but it doesn't hurt to clean it up a bit. It's pretty much up to the OP.

BTW, 1H isn't that much ;) I use to do some tube audio stuff and 5-20H B+ filter chokes are the norm. Tube output transformers with 30+ henry primaries are also very common...

if you want more power rewind another mot and put it in series. Don't forget about the phasing, you will need about 30-40Vac @ 10A and then use a standerd rectifier-filter cap. another option is to use a smaller gauge wire no smaller than 18 with thin insulation.

yeah I mean't micro hernes, not hernes, I tried it today and fried the mosfets angry I ordered some IRFP250's this time i'll make a full bridge.

pulled a big narly arc out to about 8 inches before the fets poped

I guess that's what i get for using fets i plucked out of a computer monitor mistrust

Wait, are you making an sstc? The zvs driver is not a half-bridge, and canot be modified to be a full-bridge, as far as I know. But dude, 8 inches?! thats some crazy length for 15 volts! amazed

8-)Actually its 20volts when rectified

what I Meant by a full bridge is 2 parreled fets, so that be 4 fets instead of 2.

here is a video of someone feeding it with ripple dc, and he doesn't seem to have any problems
