i looked for about an hour and a half for a simple sstc driver that does not require crazy parts mostly local i would prefer if it was local (radio shack :( )
Is there a 555 based tesla coil driver or something that i could build using a IRF840+555 timer
thanks i dont really care about the spark length i will worry about that latter as long as i can build a simple sstc

You just need a simple antenna based feedback coil. Requires just a small regulator (such as 7812 or 7815) for housekeeping power, 555 timer for self-start, a gate driver, and a MOSFET which you have.

If you use your IRF840 MOSFET and something like 60 volt supply, you might get some results (better coupling with more primary turns). You will need to use an interrupter with a pretty low on-time, you can do that with a 556 or use a circuit like this
