it run's for a few seconds then die's. frown
also I hear sound coming from the primary. but i can't find any coal or burn marks.

Check your waveform out of the GDT, and check your DC blocking caps. You're getting shoot through and it's frying your fets, by turning them both on at teh same time, I'm pretty sure everyone including myself has had this issue, with Steves design, its not a bad design its just very sensitive.

I understand from your video that you power this coil up instantly at full power?

If this is the case, it might just be that your secondary/topload setup is not suitable for full voltage, I have tried this before where I changed the topload to a smaller topload, thus raising the Fres, higher stress on the FETs which blew up.

I recommend lowering the Fres and use a variac to power your coil at reduced voltage, raising the voltage slowly gives you a better chance of finding and correcting problems before it goes boom...

Where are your heatsinks on the FETs?

in the cover of the box, uh never needed it in interrupter mode.

so, i am gonna try a bigger top load, and gonna scope the gdt output.

how am i gonna scope the output, when the coil is running or just the output from the interrupter?

ow and sadly i don't have a variac

Let me get this straight, you admit your mosfets are just hanging like that without any heatsink on them, and you wonder why they blow up after few seconds of CW operation? confused

They probably get warm and die, but because of the low thermal mass and your fan, they get cold again by the time you check their temperature.
