I want to make the worst tesla coil ever! Let me explain:

You all know the basic wireless energy plan, 2 tesla coils, one transmitter, one reciver. Well this is my twist, what if we have a farday cage that's a tube and the tesla coil top loads are at both ends. But, if the tesla coil had streamers, they couls arc through the cage and destroy the experment. So if the coil produces only RF, EF, etc, the waves will be big enough to not escape the cage, they would bounce in the cage from the transmitter to the reciver and thus have more efficiency, perhaps enough to bet copper wires cost wise. (high power)

so to list them,

1. how to create a tesla coil perfactly tuned to make only rf
2. any helpful hints!

Wireless energy? Check out JiffyCoils YouTube.. Link2 Theres definitely potential with the slayer exciter.

Thank you labs..
Do you have a schematic for a slayer exciter for me?

Any other ideas?

Make a normal SGTC with a large topload and don't open the spark gap too wide.

So I should have a normaly tuned tesla coil with a large topload? Also, the spark gap should be as small as possible?

Not neccessarily as small as possible, just close enough so that breakouts don't occur.

N.Tesla 'showed off' his system with arcs & sparks but his aim was to do just what you are considering on a smaller scale - wireless transmission of energy.
To this end he was trying to create enormous voltages with no breakout,
hence an enormous topload.

Roughly (experts may correct me here) the topload will breakout at a certain voltage dependant on the radius (I use an estimate of3kV/mm radius).
The topload voltage is (very) roughly Vcp x SQRT(Cp/Cs).
SO
Adjusting the spark gap (almost) directly adjusts the peak topload voltage.

Here's a large topload; Link2

that's BIG!

by the way, do you have a schematic for a slayer exciter?

I'm sorry I forgot, what does Vcp stand for again? Also, cp and cs! I'm just memorizing the names for different electrical units, sorry!

I c could not find one posted, you may have to inquire to jiffycoil about it. though the SEC exciter is something that you should play around with a bit to fully understand it, so i doubt Dr Stifflers site will give a direct schematic.

Sorry,
Cp Primary capacitance
Cs Secondary capacitance (coil+topload+corona+spark channel)
Vcp Voltage across Cp
