I've seen people just apply wall filler on the corrugated aluminum vents...then you sand it and varnish it, makes a nice strong smooth topload. Probably anything that can mold and then harden.

I thought of using a pool tube once, but decided not to because of how uneven it was...A tire tube would be best if you went with the inflatable option.

simply blow it up when the pressure is getting low. Fiberglass is fairly difficultg to get hold of in malaysia,

you simply soak in water and after a while it hardens...

What about conducting paint instead of alu tape. I've read some threads on the topic but coudn't find a torroid made with it. Any gueses ?

What about filling it with hard foam? You could use the inner tube as a mold and cut it away when the foam hardens.
