Teravolt- how do you prevent arcover between the diodes? I once got arcover on one of those pretty red caps you are using. You have to be pushing well over 40-100k by that point right? I was getting about 50k when experiencing this.

hello Pripyat and Oidium45, this started out as a expieriment to test 1n4007 1Kv 1A diodes based on Steve Wards HV dubbler.

Link2

he uses diodes with a fast recovery but 1n4007's are cheaper at allied.

Link2

even cheaper than Ebay wich I originaly bought 1500. the pictures shows how set up the full wave dubbler can be set up in air. As they get taller the losses get larger with out field shapers and you can feal the spray. In the past I have used HV diodes and HV disk caps wich work well up to 8 stages but past that have had disapointing results maby from broken components or my lack of understanding. The flybacks that I use put out a hot 10Kv peak so I built the diodes for 15Kv and the 470pf caps are 30Kv so they hold out. If you make a dubbler with higher flyback voltage like 30kv the more you have to set it up like Steve Ward where every thing is insulated but you can't argue with his results

You could also try UF4007 which is the ultra-fast version...

true but when I needed a cuple thousand it adds up. I have found other diodes that were fast and had a cuple kv rateing and were cheaper in bulk but since 1N4007's are 2c ea and may go up in smoke that was acceptible

So a TV repair shop down the road from my home gave me free reign over their electrical dumpster. I've already gotten two flybacks that are much better for winding than the two I was trying to use previously. I am definitely interested in getting more power output from my zvs circuit. Unfortunately, my only supply is 28V at 20A. This is about as large as I can get my arcs with the flybacks I have... I will have to do some research on the dubbler when my classes slow down a little...
