There was a thread recently regarding the effects of a very close lightning strike.

Here's a Youtube video of one of the closest strikes I've seen caught on tape that also gives a good idea of the sounds associated with it.
Link2 WARNING: HARSH LANGUAGE

Some years ago, I was standing on top of a slag heap, which had formed an unnatural hill in an otherwise flat landscape, when it was struck by lightning. The bolt struck perhaps 50 metres away. It was one of the loudest sounds I have ever heard, a sound that left my ears ringing for some time after.

The closest i've ever seen lighting strike is 100 feet. It obliterated a roadsign.

Had a bolt hit in a field near where I live, estimate distance under 400 feet.
That one caused a "click" audible to me, shortly followed by the thunder.

Never had that happen since, any ideas?

I should point out, this is not my video, simply the closest and most spectacular strike I've been able to find on video so far. I would have been out there searching for Fulgarites if it were me ;)

As for the one question about multiple strokes, yes, there were several. Hard to count for sure, but 3-6 return strokes using the same plasma channel is not at all unheard of. I believe up to 12 strokes have been documented in some instances.
