PROUD MARY- maybe you could shoot some ideas my way?

You can download a 1966 radio amateur article on how to test 1966 semiconductors with a basic ohm meter here:

Of course you could buy a new one from NTE.

I just wanted some data on them. I'd like to build a model amplifier using all 1960's components. (brown tube resistors, funny looking diodes etc.) It doesn't have to sound any good, just work.

Here is a very smart little tester. Micronta Dynamic Transistor
Tester, Its a oscillator with an iron core transformer connected to a red LED with a adjustment pot to find the sweet zone for bias where it starts oscillating and the light comes on. If the transistor can oscillate-it can amplfiy- its good for something.

Additionally two pin jacks to connect to external amplifier to hear is oscilate or scope it. Lazy types can just lay the tester on a transistor radio and here it make a tone.

In the electronics intro class we lit matches under can type germanium transistor to hear them scream as they twinked out. And as they cooled down they started to work again until most of the tone returned. Most of the time. We had a hugh box of germanium pulls from old digital computer boards with socketed transistors.

Beat the boredom of slogging through bias stability calcs.

The views are of an original era Raytheon CK760 note the LED on.

I have several bags of these resistors (NOS) laying around. If you need a a few particular values give me a pm. Just have to promise to show off the results when you get dome building the thing.

I have plenty, but first I have to find the ratings on these things!

What I've always REALLY wanted to do is make an all-glass circuit, using glass resistors, glass vacuum caps, glass vacuum tubes, and glass diodes. But there's no way I'd find the parts with the right values to make an amp.

I've also always wanted to build a 555 timer from scratch. Never got around to it. BTW, anyone have any metal 555 timers?

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I'm still looking for the data on these. Anyone got an old copy of the general electric transistor manual?

Try contacting GE. I have had good luck in the past. Just be polite and you may be able to get someone nice on the line.

Well I tested the Hfe, and here's what I got.

The PT2 and GE1 are both NPN, and the GE4 is PNP.

PT2 has a Hfe of 130
GE1 has a Hfe of 50
GE4 has a Hfe of 100

I still don't know the maximum ratings though.

i have found a few of these parts in a 28v 200a dc power supply
i think its some form of filter????
i put up pics shorty but this is all i have found

I forgot where I got these from, text says "W47 +-5%, 500V EM"

They measure 53 - 55 nF so they are capacitors within their written rating, but what types are they? I have had no luck finding these on google.
