Hi everyone,

I always find myself getting new parts, some of them are very old and unproduced, and finding a datasheet is next to imposible without going around and asking people.

so the proposal here is to have a thread where people can post thier part that is either a complete mystery in hopes of finding a part number or description, without having to make new threads,

so id like to get some opinions, is such a thread a good idea? or a complete fail?

as long as people at least attempt to google the part number first...

Some part numbers don't exist, especially on ic chips. A good amount of the numbers are proprietary, hence the mystery.

I have some vidicons that I would really like the datasheet for. I'll post the part numbers when I get home.

Make a component tracer (AKA) tracker, as in Huntron Tracker.

Old analogue oscilloscope, 3 resistors, and a 6.3 volt transformer.

Use to identify diodes transistors resistors capacitors coils.

Each type of part has a unique VI curve. saves hours in troubleshooting

That is true, I just meant it could get filled with people asking for the datasheet for their 74ls00... I have seen it before.

that said, I think it could be a great idea, I may have some parts that need identifying myself.

well, at the moment I have no mystery parts, but when I do, I guess it will be better to post em all here instead of making a bunch of seperate threads like did in the past...

which was kinda why I started this in the first place, its up to you really, but I will have to agree with Ultramagnus, at least put in some effort to find the thing first, but in general, any odd looking part that there is no easly obtainable information to what it is or its specs, which someone here may have seen said part before or know a source of datasheets for these parts, it can be usefull for future referance when using these items for a project or whatever you do with them.

not a mystery part, and a complete long shot... but I'm finding it impossible to find the datasheet for the OC202 germanium transistor cheesey (which my local electronics shop still sell over the counter!) Found a short form on a datasheet site, but that's all
