A homemade with a ferrite core from flyback will give better results? How much turns must be the secondary?

I think to make my own flyback hv transformer...For ferrite core i think to use a ferrite core from one of my flybacks, but i am not sure if it deserves the labor..Also i don't know how much turns must make the secondary and with what awg magnet wire....

I think to make something like this:http://www.pocketmagic.net/?p=1187

I will take better results than an ordinary flyback?

i would get the circuit running with an ordinary flyback first and come back to that later. if you make your own coil it can be hard to insulate i use candle wax for insulating things because it is cheep and repairable.

i bought a new ferrite core and i made a good 47-55uH inductor, but again i take a poor output!I take a 2cm purple/orange thin arc...If i change the zener diodes(12v) with 9V zener diodes i will take better results? Also can i connect in series a ordinary 12v transformer with my 12v PC PSU to take 24V 13A?And one more question about pc psu..Can i connect the +12v rail with the -12v rail to take 24v?

The choke must have more inductance that the inductance of the primary coils, or the circuit may enter an alternative oscillation mode that leads to destruction, and it shall not saturate. Smaller zener voltages will increase the resistance of the mosfets, resulting in heat and poor performance. Transformers don't work with DC (!?). You can use the -12 V output as ground and have 24 V at the +12 V output.

What you mean transformer dont work with Dc?Also if i connect the +12V(10A)rail with the -12v(0.8A) i will take 24v output but how much Ambers? Also have i any risk to destroy my ATX with this connection?

Here are some photos and a video to see my results..How much volt/mA you estimate my arc?Can this arc drive a small spark gap tesla coil?

I could not find 12v zeners so I used 15v zeners just dont go over 18v. The lower you go the more you will get into cutoff with the fets so I would not go below 10v. Do you you have a polypropalene cap with low ESR because I suspect that you ara not building enough circulating current in the primary.
