Hi i made my first zvs driver but i have some problems!MY arc is thin,as a arc from a simple driver!I supply the driver with 12v 12A...I played a little with the capacitos but i took a very little improvment with a 250v 0,66uF cap.I use 3-3 turns a green small toroid inductor with 21 turns of 1mm enameled wire ,irfp250N mosfets and In4007 diodes...What must change to improve the performance?

I will post some pictures later!

1N4007 is a slow rectifier, you need UF4007 or other high speed diode. Try 5+5 turns. Either way, a mazzilli driver doesent really get very impressive until your at 24V and beyond.

But i have seen many people with 12V 10A input to make realy BIG arc...1N4007 diodes is has 30ns change time i think..Isn't good? What diode you think is good, except from uf4007 because my electronic shop doesn't have it...I try with 5-5 turns bit i took same results..

If your drawing 10A at 12V but doesent get much out, something must be getting hot, dissipating the energy.

Any ultrafast 600V diode will work. 1N4007 is pretty much useless above a few kHz.

What kinda flyback are you using ?

i use a modern dc flyback..I supply the circuit with 12A i don't know how much it draws but nothing get hot,all are cooled, and with this supply my simple driver make same or a bit stronger arc than the zvs!The toroid is good? Also for better performance it's better more capacitance?

Here are some pictures of my flyback and driver!

Oops i had a wrong. My diodes have 30us recovery time and i thought was 30ns so i need ultra fast diodes...If you can tell me some other advices i would be grateful!I will buy fast diodes and i will post the results again! Also can you tell me some models of ultra fast diodes for good results?

I found in a tv these two diodes!SUF30J is an ultra fast diode and HER307 which is high efficiency...It's good for the zvs driver? Can i use two different diodes in this driver?

It should work but its a good idea to have two diodes of the same type as different types can cause assymetric loading and current drawn leading one half to run faster or harder than the other, making the thing unstable.

You can try it and see if it makes any difference, if no difference, your flyback may be damaged or dead.

I bought today 2 kind of diodes. The first pair is BYV26E which i read was used by another guy for zvs.The second pair is a 6A10 DC diodes but i didnt find how many ns are.Are they suitable for the driver?

The BYV26E's are good, but you may want to series two or three to up the voltage rating.

I tried the circuit with byv26e diodes but i didn't get any change!I tried it with my 3 flybacks and it's still a very weak arc, almost no COLOUR ,but with my single transistor driver i take a weak but PURPLE arc! What's is the problem? For resistors i use 2x470ohm 5W,2x10kohm 1w,2x irfp250n mosfets,2x bzx12 zener diodes for capacitor i try with 250v 0,66uF and 250v 1,5uf!For inductor i took a small green toroid core from a graphic card and i try it with 15 and 22 turns! For supply i use a 12v 12A pc psu! Also the small zener can handle the heat of a 60W soldering gun?Can you tell me what must be change to take some improvement?
