I'm pretty sure your DMM is acting weird. There is no way how there could be 118V on the output of your 24V transformer, and that the transistors could survive that without silicon chips in your ceiling
My power meter did also read 5800W while running my little PL504 VTTC.
I checked the supply with another meter and could not get a reading. With the flyback disconnected I received 24v output. As soon as I connected the flyback the transformer started a high frequency vibration and this DMM could not get a reading. It was bouncing between 134v and OL on a 600v setting. Also the 470 ohm resistors and the HFA15TB60 diodes were getting hot as well. Usually even when drawing arcs they both stay cool.
Is it possible that the flyback is internally shorted and forcing power back through the feedback loop?

I have been using this schematic. It has been working great up until I connected this particular flyback. I have made no changes to the circuit yet. Everything is connected as it appears in the photograph.
I was wondering how a particular flyback could cause this? Like I said, the circuit seems to work great with smaller flybacks. It is a shame because this particular flyback is exceptionally larger then my others. I was hoping that it would hold up better.

Then there may be a diode embeded in the Primary, or whose effect is reflected from the secondary to the primary. Or the gap maybe funny. Its definately a flyback problem if you switch back to a known good one and this problem goes away.
try a previous flyback that you know works, and measure your input side again, if it says 24v on your DMM, its good. At this point connect your unkown flyback and see if you have that 118 volts appearing again.

I have already tried this. Everything works great without the larger flyback. I appreciate the help. Now that I have determined that it is the flyback that is the problem, I was wondering how the flyback could cause this. I have shorted out several flybacks and this has never happened.
