It's such a great show. There is another episode that shows how they make precision tools, and they showed the annealing being done with induction heating! They had four square copper rods bent into a coil with just a few windings, and the drill bits (or whatever they were) were placed inside the coils and heated to red hot!! It looked just like everyone elses set up!

I wonder if there is any way an ordinary power drill could be pressed into service for this. I imagine that it would not hold up for long, since it is not made to deal with off-center forces, but I suppose it could work if thin enough metal is used. While something like 1mm sheet metal would be nice, much less would be required to hold the shape. Spinning with Aluminium foil anyone?
