I want to make a TC but i havent a nst power supplier so i wanderd if i can use a flyback transformer from my old color tv.I want to make an entry level TC if i can use a fbt it will be cool?Also the FBT must have diode and what is diode(i am a little noob!),be AC or DC?.One more question is if i can use little disc blue ceramic capacitors (14kv 0,001uf).It will be ok?

A diode rectifies ac, ie it turns ac into dc A fbt will work fine, just that you will wasnt to look at other dc tcs use rich's site for info [link] The csrematic caps will work poorly, they will 1. not be able to handle the high voltage of the fyback(30kv+) 2. will not stand the high currents of the tc(hundreds of amps) and 3. won't handle the high hzs of the tc(100 of khz)
If you don't know what a diode does, I sugect learning more before make a deadly tc, I spent over 2 years learning.

A flyback transformer can certainly be used for a small spark gap tesla coil, here is a link to my first:
Ceramic capacitors will work provided that you series enough to withstand your supply voltage, 3 in series would give some overhead to a flyback transformer, its just a matter to put together a MMC that will work with your primary coil to fit the resonant frequency of the secodary circuit.
Ceramic capacitors will not be optimal, but neither is homemade saltwater capacitors as I started with, with short runtimes they should not overheat into destruction, the peak amperage in a flyback driven tesla coil is not in the destructive end of the scale. Frequency of operation will at higher values give higher losses, more heating. If it is not heating violently and you are happy with your spark output, its fine.
A color tv flyback is most likely to already be rectified from its internal diode chain tapped up through the coil of the flyback transformer.
Bottomline is: This works, its just a matter of desired efficiency and performance.

It's true that you can run a TC off DC or AC, but for a flyback running at several kHz, you must use DC due to the tiny amount of energy per cycle from the HF supply. A flyback transformer just can't fill a suitably large tank capacitor up in, for example, 1/20000 of a second.
All the AC coils I've seen run from mains frequencies, either 60 or 50 Hz, right straight from the output of a good old iron transformer.

The bottom of the secondary coil must be connected to the ground right?Τhe top of the coil must be connected to the toroid or the toroid is a separate part?Also the ground must be the ground of the house or a metallic structure?(If you could tell me some details about the ground of the secondary coil i would be happy:P)
