Well, I am continuing my project DRSSTC, named for Zarc.

Now its a DRSSTC Running with IRG4PC50U :D

Results in DRSSTC mode:

Used a fullbridge of IRFP250N with a 141nF 3200V primary cap, running at 100us tOn, 750W input. Yeah I know, I over pushing the limit of the IRFP250N, and without a OCD... I dont know why it is surviving, but I ran the coil even for 10min without any heat at the mosfets. I Think its the first DRSSTC with IRFP250N.

The Bus voltage is about 150V, and 2000uF 400V eletrolytic cap.

UPDATED: 17/05/2010

I finished the build, but I wont make it work at DRSSTC mode because I have no IGBT's, and I will make another DRSSTC with mosfets, not that one...

Soon, sparks in SSTC mode :D

IGBTS at DRSSTC: IRG4PC50U
140A Primary Peak Current
80cm Sparks to air
Audio Modulated:

Link2 <-- Playing Evanescence - Bring me To Life
Link2 <--- Playing Coldplay - The Scientist

Soon, new base for Zarc DRSSTC

Wow that's a great job with those MOSFETs. You can easily blow them on a simple ZVS driver. Good job on the streamer length!

This is interesting :)

I am looking forward to reading more about your MOSFET adventure in DRSSTC duty, what is your driver like?

Thanks! I will test other mosfets in the place of IRFP250N, I thinking about using IRFP460 because the 500V Voltage cap, but I dont know if it will handle it. I will try.

I am using a normal SSTC circuit, 74HC14 -> 74HC08(with interrupter) -> TC4429

The only thing, its that my interrupter is for DRSSTC with 100us tOn and variable tOff. Soon I will finish my coil build, and test other mosfets like IRFP260 and 460.

That looks like a very nice coil!

What are you using for the interrupter/audio modulation?
