That capacitor needs low ESR (and low ESL is even more crucial) more than any other capacitor in the circuit. It should be very low ESR, and extremely close to the IGBTs. It is there to keep high voltage spikes out, it is very important. The less parasitics in your circuit, the smaller that capacitor can be.
You mean low ESR/ESL as FKP-1 CDE942/940? I have been using X2 rated MKP caps (.47-10µF @ 300VAC) and they seem to perform perfectly even in DRSSTC as decoupling caps.
If i remember right Steve Ward said that SSTC running from unfiltered mains needs something like 5-10µF and .47-2µF if filtered with large lytics
So far as i know x2 caps aren't that low esr/esl and yet still working without any trouble...

The heatsinks I use are the size they are because they get warm due to the amount of power they will be handling. This is the board I'm using for the fullbridge. Mosfets are already very close. But I'll get the snubber cap I saw awhile back, 0.007Ohm ESR. I take using the large cruddy cheap ones I used is going to cause things to not function good...
In this image, I'm taking electrical class. In electrical (house wiring) we ALWAYS use wire jump symbols. NEVER cross. So I read the middle, saw 4 connections. I made these 4 connections. I JUST noticed and forgot that electronics DOT connections. So No wonder the board didnt work. I had a solid short from the left side bridge, to the 0.68uF cap, to ground.
So now we know, Why my thing didnt work. Flaw in reading schematics.
