Yeah, I skimmed too fast over what you wrote. I think "The Scream" is too abstract. but that's for another thread.

I can see no reason why H. Sapiens should not, in time, join all the other species now represented only as fossils. Evolution will not stall on our account.

Your 'time capsule' might be seen as an attempt to ensure that the very means by which Homo came to organize its own extinction could somehow be a great boon to future life to come.

Well, that's why I think the contents of any such archive should be carefully considered. We know plenty about what faith and worship was like 3,000 years ago, but precious little about the people themselves, how they lived, and what they would say to us if they could. It is very likely that a repository of scientific and technological information alone would be of limited interest, just as a cache of religious scrolls. It needs to also be a repository of art, of culture, the story of how we came to be (and perhaps of how we came not to be), the struggles we faced, and the struggles we still face. All of it should be told, in the hopes that it may help, and so that our story can live on after us. If we're very lucky, future generations may be able to use such a repository to look back and remember who we once were.

I agree with MinorityCarrier, you should bury it on the moon with some kind of marker. That way only a space aged intellegent life form would be able to access it and a less advanced species wouldn't melt it down for "thar prudy gold".
And you should have a way to ENSURE that they know that there is actually something inside.

BTW this is fun ^_^

You want to enclose the information media in GOLD.
The lust for gold arises in man, while he is on an evolutionary level way below that which makes him able to read any of the data.
I see a goldsmith in the future, cursing at the impurities in the gold he just melted.... wink
